The Golden Moth Illumination Deck

The Golden Moth Illumination Deck is a very special set of illustrated symbolic cards to be used for inspiration, advice, reflection, and creativity. They are for sale in my shop, Sprout Head! Visit my Facebook page and my Blog for updates!

Each set comes with:

* A full deck of 75 cards, each deck numbered in a LIMITED EDITION of 300

* A 30-page, 5" x 8" Handbook that explains how to use the cards

* "The Arrow" Spread Sheet - an 11" x 17" illustrated chart that unfolds to show how to lay the cards into position

The deck is comprised of 75 cards illustrated by myself, artist Aijung Kim, in a style reminiscent of storybook line drawings. Sixty-eight of the cards contain original symbolic images, and 7 cards remain blank so that you can draw in your own symbols if you choose. The images were inspired by concepts from the divination systems of Tarot, I Ching, and Runes; dreams I've had, images of personal significance, and my own artwork. I believe that each symbol is open enough to have both personal and universal significance, making it a fascinating deck to interpret. The handbook includes information on how to use the deck, but leaves the interpretation of the symbols up to you so that you can truly personalize your deck of cards by infusing them with your own meanings.

Each card measures 2 1/8" x 3 1/4" (slightly smaller than standard playing card size), making the deck convenient and portable. Each deck is numbered in a limited edition of 300. The cards were offset printed in two colors by a local printer in Richmond Virginia, Parcell Press, using soy-inks on 100% recycled paper. Finishing and assembly, including corner-rounding each card and cutting/assembling the boxes, was done by hand. Slight variations are the result of a handmade process and make your deck totally unique!

The cards may be used for divination purposes and to provide insight and awareness into a situation. They are a tool to access your subconscious mind and become more alert to thoughts, actions, and emotional patterns. Through images, a vague thought or blustery emotion can take on form and become clear. Seeing your life’s patterns in a non-threatening way through a game-like deck of cards can be a powerful tool for transformation.

The cards can also be employed for imaginative purposes. Writers, artists, and business people who experience mental blocks in their work can pull a card to generate ideas and concepts. Children can play a game with them by inventing a spontaneous story from the images. They can be used for decoration, and they make a great gift!

When used for divination purposes, you can use the cards much like you would a tarot deck, giving readings to yourself or others. When I give a reading to another person, I have that person think of a question or a matter they want insight into. I shuffle and spread the cards facedown, and let the querent pick the cards from the deck. Then I place the cards face-up in the appropriate positions and “read” what they say about the situation or problem. I like to read the cards as if I’m telling a story to myself – trying to figure out how the images and symbols interact with one another and form a narrative. The cards provide a visual map of the patterns that shape a person’s life, becoming a story of how they perceive their world. Using the cards can help people to become more conscious and empowered about the choices they make. It is also a tool to develop your intuition and keep your mind open to seeing things from a new perspective.

I am also offering readings in my shop. Click on the listing for "Golden Moth Intuitive Readings" to find out more. With every reading, I will offer a $5 discount towards the purchase of a Golden Moth Illumination Deck set. (Not to be used in combination with any other sales or discounts.)

I raised the funds to print this deck through a Kickstarter campaign. See the original campaign HERE.
