The Golden Moth Illumination Deck (Newer Version)
The Golden Moth Illumination Deck (Newer Version)
2014

The Golden Moth Illumination Deck is a very special set of illustrated symbolic cards to be used for inspiration, advice, reflection, and creativity. The original edition of these oracle cards and its subsequent print runs are now sold out. I plan to create a miniature print-at-home version in the near future for purchase in my shop, Sprout Head! Please check back for updates. For more insight into this deck, please visit my Blog

Each set in the original edition came with:

* A full deck of 75 cards, each deck numbered in a limited edition of 300
* A 30-page, 5" x 8" Handbook that explained how to use the cards
* "The Arrow" Spread Sheet - an 11" x 17" illustrated chart that unfolded to show how to lay the cards into position

WHAT ARE THE CARDS?

The original edition of the deck is comprised of 75 cards I illustrated in a style reminiscent of storybook line drawings. Sixty-eight of the cards contain original symbolic images, and seven cards remain blank for the user to draw their own symbols. The images were inspired by concepts from the divination systems of Tarot, I Ching, and Runes; dreams I've had, images of personal significance, and my own artwork. I believe that each symbol is open enough to have both personal and universal significance.

Each card measures 2 1/8" x 3 1/4" (slightly smaller than standard playing card size). The original edition was offset printed in two colors by a local printer in Richmond Virginia, Parcell Press, using soy-inks on 100% recycled paper. Finishing and assembly, including corner-rounding each card and cutting/assembling the boxes, was done by hand and hence produced slight variations in each deck.

HOW TO USE THEM?

The cards may be used for divination purposes and to provide insight and awareness into a situation. They are a tool to access your subconscious mind and become more alert to thoughts, actions, and emotional patterns.

The cards can also be employed for imaginative purposes. Writers, artists, and business people who experience mental blocks in their work can pull a card to generate ideas and concepts. Children can play a game with them by inventing a spontaneous story from the images.

ORIGINS

I raised the funds to print this deck in 2012 through a Kickstarter campaign. See the original campaign HERE.
